Speed freak may Bolt
He's young, cool and fun to watch, so let's hope Jamaican sprinting superstar is only kidding when he says today will be last individual race
TERRY BELL, Canwest News ServicePublished:A 13 minutes ago
It'll be unfortunate if Usain Bolt turns out to be as honest as he is quick.
Earlier this week, Bolt said that today's 200-metre Olympic final (10:20 a.m., CBC) would be his last individual race, that he'd only continue whipping the world's fastest men in the relays.
It'll be track's loss if that's his choice. The guy's just fun to watch.

In yesterday's semifinal, from which he emerged with the evening's fastest time - 20.09 seconds - he covered the final 30 metres or so on cruise control and appeared to be jogging as he hit the finish line. Looking at his face, he seemed almost bored, as he stared off into the crowd like he was trying to find a familiar face.
"I just decided to look up at the board to see where everybody was," the Jamaican sensation said as he stopped for a visit with the media in the mixed zone after his semifinal race.
When he won the 100-metre gold last weekend with a world-record time of 9.69 seconds, he finished the race with his left shoe untied and his shirt untucked.
In that one, Bolt let up with seven strides to go. Then with what could become a legendary bit of cheek, he beckoned to his rivals to join him. And when it was obvious they couldn't, he thumped his chest.
All that was before he crossed the finish line.
"That's just me," he said of his antics. "I like to enjoy what I do. You can't be too serious in your job, you have to enjoy your job out there and that's what I'm doing out there."
Track needs guys like that. Especially when they have the goods to become the first Olympian since Carl Lewis in 1984 to win gold in both the 100 and 200.
Canada's top 200-metre man, Jared Connaughton of New Haven, P.E.I., doesn't believe Bolt will be leaving the 100 and the 200 anytime soon.
"I think he will continue to do it (race 100s and 200s) because he's so talented," said Connaughton, who was seventh in his semifinal race yesterday and didn't advance.
"The money is there. The appearances are there. I think with the 100 display he made, he can do whatever he wants from now on.
"He's cool. He's young. He's having fun out there, and that's pretty inspiring to see someone so talented having fun. He's the total package."
Lord knows, this sport - which has been humiliated and brought to its knees by drug cheats - could use a champion or two who is young, fun and cool.
His world-record romp here in Beijing is one of only a handful of times he's run the 100-metre distance. His 9.69 time broke his own world record of 9.72, which he set on May 31 in New York City.
And that makes it more remarkable if Bolt leaves - his exit will be as quick as his arrival.
He's a star nobody wants to see burn out too quickly.
