WEAPONS FOUND
BANCROFT -Police found two shotguns, a rifle, two longbows, ammunition and a marijuana growing operation at a Cardiff house, near Bancroft, on Nov. 17, the Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit states in a release issued yesterday.
Another shotgun in the trunk of a car in Peterborough, police state.
A tactical response unit, Bancroft OPP and other police units executed a search warrant at 62 Sprucedale St., police state.
A man, a woman and two young children were found in the house, police state.
Mark Robbins is charged with production of a controlled substance, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of weapon obtained by commission of offence, possession contrary to order and careless storage of a firearm.
ASSAULT, THEFT CHARGES
A 17-year-old Stewart St. boy has been charged with assault and theft after police said a man was punched after trying to stop a theft in progress.
On Thursday at about 7 p. m., the 48-year-old alleged victim was in the Trentwinds parking lot on Lansdowne St. West and saw a teen rummaging through a parked vehicle, police said.
The man confronted the teen and held onto him while the police were called, police said.
While detaining the boy, he was punched in the face, police said.
An iPod stolen from the vehicle was later recovered, police said.
The accused was released from custody and will appear in court Dec. 14.
INFORMATION SOUGHT
Police are looking for information concerning a Romaine St. break-in.
Sometime between Nov. 7 and Nov. 18, suspects entered the residence through an unlocked door.
Once inside they removed jewlery, a PSP gaming unit with games, a video camera and various coins.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
FIVE BREATH TESTS GIVEN
Peterborough County OPP checked 17 vehicles, resulting in five roadside breath tests and two three-day suspension related to alcohol during a Thursday RIDE program on Yankee Line in Ennismore, police said.
Police will continue to operate daily RIDE checks throughout the county, police said.
CAR THEFT INFORMATION
Police are looking for information about a car stolen on Chemong Rd. Friday night.
Sometime overnight, a blue1989 Pontiac Sundbird with a black hood, licence plate, 544 XEA, was stolen from the home's driveway, police said.
The owner had the vehicle posted for sale, police said.
Anyone with information in regard to this crime or any other is encouraged to contact Peterborough County OPP at 705-742-0401 or Peterborough Northumberland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
CAR THEFT INFORMATION
ENNISMORE -Saint Martin's Church is holding its annual Christmas concert on Dec. 13 at 2 p. m. in the church.
